Last day of the year.............

Here we are again, another year almost over. Time seems to be going by faster all the time. It is a good time to look back and count all our blessings. God has certainly blessed us very much. We are all healthy and doing well as a family. Farming was good as well this year. It started with about the highest prices that we have seen in the last 10 years. The crop that is in storage right now is of very nice looking quality. There is only some hollow heart in it.(big hole in the middle of the potato).

We had a very nice and fairly quiet Christmas. I hope you all did as well. It is good to spend time together, specially at this time of year.

Mary is coming home tonight. She will be tired after the long trip from Washington D.C. no doubt. She had a major delay. The plane she was scheduled to take from D.C. had to make an emergency landing back in Montreal where it came from. There was a fire on board. But after they got another plane and crew they left this afternoon and is scheduled to arrive in Charlottetown at five after eleven. We'll be home just in time to welcome the new year together.

Well folks, that is it for this year. We wish all of you a very Blessed and prosperous New Year !

Christmas Time

Merry Christmas to one and all . I hope this blog finds you nicely warmed up, with a cup of hot chocolate in front of your computer. What a nice way to stay in touch with everyone.
In the picture to the left are Amanda cutting the pizza, Pete supervising, Matt hiding behind Amanda and Rebecca facing away from the camera. These pictures were taken last Tuesday when we had our "pakjes avond". You can see the Christmas tree in the background with the present under it.
The smaller kids were really excited about it all, and couldn't wait to get started. Of course they had to finish the pizza first.

This decoration sits on the mantle over the fireplace. Nice and festive, and well made by mom

The text says: Casting all your care upon Him,
For He careth about you.
1 Peter 5,7

We had a lot of fun, but it would have been more so if Dianna & Jordan and Mary & Isaac could have been there too. Hopefully next year will see us all together in one place. Of course we know that you can only be in one place at a time.

Next we had the annual Nieuwhof Christmas get together. This year the festivities were held at Marten and Karen's place.
From left to right: Tineke, Pete,Matt & Amanda

bottom left: Rebecca

It was great fun for all of us, specially the smaller ones.
from bottom left: Jason, Aaron(yellow),Caleb (blue),
Andrew (black),Cassie(orange),Nicolle(black,white stripe)
and Damaris(light blue shirt) with Karen on the right.
Karen gave them all some numbers from 1 to 35.
If your number was called, you would get a present.
Very organized.
After that the grownups were handed their presents by Julie and Rebecca.
Alice brought her famous cream puffs. Yum.
We concluded with a potluck. Everybody brought some food, and then we ate it all together.

Thank you to the ladies for doing all that work.
It wouldn't have been the same without it.
Rest well on the couch, you deserve it.
From left: Alice, Elisabeth and Karen.

And this funny guy is Caleb.

From the Nieuwhofs to you:

We wish you a Blessed New Year, may it be healthy and prosperous.

Please leave a comment after you read this blog, it gives me an idea if this is worthwhile. Also you can leave questions. Thank you.

D.R. Team fundraising

The pancake breakfast was the first fundraiser.
That is where we had to start working as a team.

Here the team is making pancakes at the church . This was one of the fund raisers we did.

We are really looking foreward to this trip. To see where God will lead us , and what He will get us to do when we get there. I' sure it will be a real learning experience. And it is less then a month away.

In between all this, the team also helped Herman and Levina to get rid of about 4000 laying hens one evening. From what I heard, it was quite an experience. It was the talk of the next meeting. Sadly, no pictures available.

Last night we had a spagetti dinner fundraiser at Smitty's restaurant. About 175 people ate a very good dinner served by the team. It was a lot of fun. The interaction with the people was great. It went very well.

Smiles were very plentyfull. And so was
the spagetti. The staff was very helpfull,
and very patient as well. Thanks to all
the people involved.
It is amazing to see, how well and quickly

God has provided all our needs. Thanks be to God.

Solong, until next time. Randall

Thank you !

It was great to get so many comments. I hope that we will be able to keep this blog as much up to date as possible. Specially with the holidays coming up.

It will be nice to share some pictures with you all. This picture to the left is a reminder of our family vacation at Upper Clements Park , in Nova Scotia. That was a lot of fun.

We are having lots of company over today. It is nice to sit around the table with 15 people and enjoy some good potato soup and tomato soup all in one day.

Now every one is spread troughout the house and playing games or watching TV.

The computer room is actually empty now.

Well, so long, until next time.

Love DAD.

I hope this is the start of many more blogs to come. The idea is that this will keep everyone in touch with the rest of the family.
Hopefully this idea vwill spread across the puddle as well.
Who knows ?
Any way I will try to publish this and see if it really works.

Greetings to all.
