Open Farm Day results...........

Hi all,
Open Farm Day went very well. We had over a hundred people visit. It is a good way to meet the neighbors from across the road. And their new neighbors as well. They moved in about two months ago. I never knew. We had a model tractor for a doorprize.
There were 73 ballots left over, after we took all the doubles out first. Klaas phoned the happy winner shortly after six, and he came down right away to claim his new John Deere 8330.
There were lots of comments about our digger collection of steel.
Most people figured that the round object seated on the yellow pedestal was indeed a cannonball.
We will wait for some official say in this matter from our family expert.
Digging came to a halt today. All was going well until we started the Red Norlands this afternoon. The first load was fine, but when we topped the hill, the potatoes were skinning too much yet. And with a little bit of rot and blight in the field, we decided to wait until next Monday before we start again. So there is your update in that department. I hope you guys have a great week...........

Auggghhh.. I wish I found some cool cannonball looking thing when I was on the digger for alllllll those years! Horseshoes and golfballs..thats about all I found! I got a thrill out of looking forward to finding a colored ball. Oh and a couple of the hiller diggy things..my mind is getting rusty! Oh No! You lucky Duck YOu! You'll have to put that little guy on display somewhere in the house! And then Id love to see it this summer! So dont get rid of it OK?!Im excited to see what Mary finds out about it!! Maybe its a shot put ball..a bomb...ooo that wouldnt be a good thing. how much does it weigh? maybe an antique bowling ball from back in the day..hmmm..heehee..i have to agree with tante tetcy..its so CSI of you!Well I better get to bed..I'll think about what else it could be and let you know if I come up with any more clever ideas! Love you lots and lots Dad! Dianna

I'm glad Farm Day went so well! And what a neat display you've made! Amazing all the things you find, it would bury the needle on a metal detector regularly! I remember those fun days of harvesting and of picking stones, always hoping you had uncovered the top of a mountain that would take all afternoon to dig out. (See?...that would mean a really long break...maybe it's the breaks I liked the most....Hmmmmm)

hahaha. I love reminiscing!
If no one minds, I'm going to wait to do some hardcore research on this ball until my computer gets fixed. I like your ideas though, and I'll put the theories through the wringer to see which one is most plausible- like another favourite show of mine... Mythbusters.
We're off to NY to visit Ali, Emily, and Vijay. Love you!!!

Alright, I've looked into the matter, and it does seem most likely to be a cannonball. Other things I thought of, but that didn't fit the bill: The cap of an Iron gate, the ball from and ball and claw tub (those were apparently made already in one piece) and some sort of ball bearing- it being a farming area and all.
I can't say definitively cannon ball, but based on the description... that's what we're going to call it for now. Until we can find an expert on cannon balls I guess.
Love you!!!

I will not approve on it. I assume precise post. Specially the title attracted me to be familiar with the intact story.
